On October 13-14, 2020 in Piešťany held the 17th international film festival Astrofilm in smaller version due to pandemic situation. This year’s theme was the 30th anniversary of the existence and operation of the Hubble Space Telescope. Our company has traditionally been a sponsor and exhibitor this year as well.
We again introduced something new and even current on the topic – two new types of working drawings with binoculars as an extension of the Geometric Optics set, clearly for the needs of astronomical circles, planetariums and observatories.
Our exposition showed the history of the development of binoculars, resp. telescopes (Galileo, Kepler, Newton and Cassegrains). Another novelty was the update of the Pexeso exhibit to up to 3 new levels of play – the planets of the solar system, the constellations and cosmonautics (space vehicles and satellites). Astronomical scientists were mainly interested in the Spectra spectrometer and its application in the measurement of star spectra. Despite the capacity limitations and hygienic measures, to which we also contributed by installing the FaceScan non-contact body temperature measurement system, our participation in the event was certainly important in terms of further cooperation with the Slovak astronomical community.
